THE FOURTH OF JULY AND SUMMER HEAT:

With all the rains we have experienced in South Texas, the summer heat is more dangerous than ever. Humidity, fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes are all on the rise and that makes things more difficult for you
when preparing weekend camping trips or get a ways.

Please remember that the heat is far worse for pets than people, and car rides without air conditioning are dangerous. Beach trips for extended periods of time are also dangerous, and we recommend that you limit the beach to early or late evening.  Watch your pets respiration and if it becomes excessively difficult, seek cooler areas and cool the pet down with a water hose.

We are seeing much more issues with insects of all kinds. Please remember that Proheart 6 covers your dogs for six months of heartworm prevention and Revolution is a cost effective product for fleas, ticks, and heartworms in your cats. Remember that a heartworm is a mosquito transmitted disease and does not show up as visible worms in your pets stools. A new product called Bravecto is a chew-able tablet and kills fleas and ticks for 90 days.

Please always remember that if you need some advice for your pets this summer or all year long, contact our friendly staff for family pet input.

Have a nice summer!
